Learn About Our #1 Short-Term Lender: CashNetUSA
Ace Cash Express is much older than most of the companies we deal with. They were founded way back in 1968 in Irving, Texas. To be honest we didn’t even know payday loans existed back then.
With such a long history you’d think they’d be happy to tell their story but we really couldn’t find much info on their past. Most payday companies play it up, they have pictures of their first store, old logos, tales about how the founder(s) got started. Oh well, it’s their business and in the big picture, it’s today that matters anyway.
Since we are just dealing with the online portion we like to dig through the Internet Archive and see when the site went up and when they started offering online lending. Ace Cash Express has had a site up since 1997, which in Internet years is basically forever. In early 2009 the site had a big overhaul and began offering online applications.
In addition to their online presence, Ace Cash also maintains around 1,500 stores.
Ace Cash Express is a direct lender.

What Does the Ace Cash Express BBB Page Say?
The main BBB page for Ace Cash seems pretty typical for the payday loan industry. Very few reviews and lots of complaints. They aren’t accredited but they manage to maintain an A+ rating so they must be addressing the complaints. You can check out the BBB page here.
Government Action Against Ace Cash Express
The BBB page tipped us off to a CFPB action against Ace back in 2014. They got slapped with a 5 million dollar fine as well as a 5 million dollar judgment of restitution to consumers. They were found to be using illegal debt collection tactics, make threats of jail and such to customers that were delinquent. In addition, they were found to be intentionally pushing consumers into debt cycles. Pretty sleazy stuff.
