National Debt Relief is located in New York City and they’ve been in business since 2009. As far as debt consolidation/relief goes they are one of the biggest names in the industry. Like most companies in the financial space, especially those dealing with credit and debt, reviews around the web are a bit mixed. Check out our National Debt Relief review below for the full story.
The National Debt Relief Review
Like most debt consolidation companies National was quick to reply to our request for information. We spoke with a representative the same day and went over the situation with them. The rep was helpful and knowledgeable on the questions we asked her.
One of the main questions we had was on their pricing but it was pretty simple, 20% of the debt. On average they are able to reduce your debt by about 50%, so once everything is factored in you’re saving about 30% on the total debt. We’d love to say you’ll save more but this is a pretty standard industry result.
In some cases, we’ve heard of rates from National Debt Relief as low as 15% but we’ve also heard as high as 30%. We can’t speak to these directly but as with any service, you need to make sure the rates are put clearly in writing before you agree to anything.
Accreditation
National is well accredited and in good standing with the BBB. Below you can see the two major debt consolidation and relief organizations they are members of.
National Debt Relief is a member of the AFCC (American Fair Credit Council), the largest and oldest association of debt settlement companies. In order to be a member of AFCC, a company has to follow a stringent set of requirements, disclosures as well as maintain them through continual review.

Customer Service
We were satisfied with the customer service we received from National but this was a common complaint from some of the other reviews we read. Mainly there were complaints of rude reps and getting bounced around and put on hold.
There were also some reviews that complained about the core service. Some individuals were not satisfied with results. While this is never a great thing to read, overall the number of complaints were pretty small. Maintaining a good rating with the BBB means that National Debt Relief made significant efforts to fix these issues. This is a good quality to see in a company.
National Debt Relief does not operate in the following states: CT, GA, KS, ME, NH, SC, OR, VT, WV.

National Debt Relief Review Overall
With a second place finish behind CuraDebt, National Debt Relief was a solid choice. The main things that kept them from the first place spot were the higher fees (in some cases) and a series of negative reviews. The main issue seemed to come from customer service being rude and some people felt the service didn’t help them as much as it should have.
Our reviewer didn’t have any real issues with the service but it’s important to keep other consumer’s opinions in mind.
