The very first thing you will need to figure out is whether or not the debt collectors have a legitimate complaint with regard to money that is owed. Remember, just because you are being hounded by a debt collector doesn’t necessarily mean that the money they are seeking is legitimately owed by you.
Let’s assume for the purpose of this article that you really do owe the money. In the off chance that you don’t, you will need to let the debt collectors know that they are mistaken and that you would like to challenge the debt.
